Hush hush, it's getting quiet
The dark is donning its suit
And there's just the air to breathe
Not a sign or a wave of the black cavalcade
And I know they're comin' for me
I can't run from this fate, it's a deathly parade of my past and my future, it's all I can see.
I can't escape this ending
Closing in on me like a book that I read
And the light is disappearing so fast
It's growing to black, it's gonna attack
And I'm all alone in this lightless shadow cave
Hush hush, the night is coming
The quiet that hides the fight
And I'm starting to realize
That murder is made in the absence of light
It snakes through your veins, a most venomous pain
There's no doubt that blood will be shed
I've spent too much time in a vanishing world
Now collapse at my hand or he'll have me dead
I can't escape this ending
Closing in on me like a book that I read
And the light is disappearing so fast
It's growing to black, it's gonna attack
And I'm all alone in this lightless shadow cave

Better

The light is always brightest after time spent in the dark
You can't love the home in which you live till you're sleeping in the park
And I say there's no one who knows you like I do
So let me love that you're here before you're gone
And better things await us if we're willing to persist
There's times for love and times for pain in which we must exist
Go tell all your secrets to the evil in the wind
But that won't help to hide the bad when there is good within
You're closer than ever before
To sunsets and gold painted shores
And better things await us if we're willing to persist
There's times for love and times for pain in which we must exist
But there's a dawn rising over the horizon
Of better things that are still yet to come

What made you walk away?
Were my words insufficent or was it just too much?
Disdain is my drug, my hope, my lure
Distance prescribed is my surefire cure
I'm a terminal patient with an IV adorned
The medication sickens a mind so forlorn
Stuck in a waiting room
I've lost all the will to move
When did pleasure lose its taste?
There's so much empty space
Picked out a metal shelf just for me
Working 'til I'm gasping for your final breath but the ends never really justified the means
It's colder than winter and whiter than snow
I think there is something that I don't know
Will you let me waste away or pull me from the dark?
Stuck in a waiting room
I've lost all the will to move
When did pleasure lose its taste?
There's so much empty space
You are the seed of all my loss
A death so painless but not even a thought
They say that the eyes are the doors to the soul
So why can't I find locks anymore?
Stuck in a waiting room
I've lost all the will to move
When did pleasure lose its taste?
There's so much empty space
Lost between hollow walls
Can't find your life at all
When did this become a waste?
There's so much empty space
What made you walk away?
Were my words insufficent or was it just too much?

The Way Things Are

I sleep with a knife under my pillow and a gun under my bed
Trust is a long gone thing to me and all of innocence is dead
I couldn't just let you walk into my life like that
And now that you're gone I really know just what I had
I'm sorry for all the time you wasted wasting all your time on me
I'm sorry for every word you said that I just didn't want to hear
I'm sorry for all the things I did that all went wrong and wrong again
I'm sorry for all of this, but it's never gonna change the way things are
I can't explain why I just shut you out and never let you speak
This world has left me jaded and thinking that there's no point in belief
Why should I break down my walls if they'll only sit there in the dust?
I couldn't let myself give into all the trust
I'm sorry for all the time you wasted wasting all your time on me
I'm sorry for every word you said that I just didn't want to hear
I'm sorry for all the things I did that all went wrong and wrong again
I'm sorry for all of this, but it's never gonna change the way things are
